Paynter’s Paint Ranch (PPR) is located south and west of Denver in Sedalia, Colorado, in the foothills of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Founded in 1988, it is owned and managed by Peggy Cummings, featuring American Paint horses carrying the lineage of COLOR ME SMART through their ranch stallions, DIABLOS PAINTED DOC and VALENTINES HICKORY.

At PPR we breed, raise, and show paints successfully in APHA, NRHA, NRCHA, and NCHA events. Paynter’s Paint Ranch has 4 APHA World Championships, 1 APHA Challenge Championship and 10 APHA Reserve World and Challenge Championships in Reining and Working Cow Horse.  Sweetheart’s Legacy, bred and raised on the ranch has obtained his NRCHA Supreme Reined Cow Horse Award, as well as Regional Champion in Open Two-Rein and Top 5 in the National for NRCHA in Open Two-Rein.  CatsLittleSweetheart has also been raised on the ranch and recognized in 2021 with  a NRCHA Superior designation.  LilCat was awarded the 2021  NRCHA North Central Regional award and Colorado Reined Cow Horse award  buckles as Champion in the Two-Rein event.  She is now retired to broodmare.

Their signature Colorado registered brand is “Reverse Slash Bar Star.” They also own and operate LRC Silver Leather and Tack, a full service source for horse related products.

Peggy and Wendell have been APHA World Show competitors since 1995 and both have ridden the renowned Working Cowhorse, PICK A WINNER. “Winners” has earned a Superior in Amateur Working Cowhorse and Three Reserve World Championships. He also has numerous Top 5 and Top 10 Awards at the APHA World Show, as well as a myriad of other circuit and regional championship awards.

Their latest achievement this past January when Winners was 24 is to come out of retirement to win Limited Amatuer Working Cow Horse at the National Western Stock Show in Denver! Way to go team Winners!!!

Sweethearts Legacy in 2021 obtained the honor of Supreme Reined Cow Horse Champion and Northwest Regional Open Two-Rein Champion AND was Top 5 in the NRCHA for Open Two-Rein.
