SMART ZIPPIN FRECKLES
Breed: American Paint Horse Association
Location: Colorado
Height: 15′ 1″ Weight: 1000 lbs.
Zip is a full sister to SMARTLITTLEJRFRECKLES and to FRECKLES SMART COLORS. She is living up to the family tradition and has become a champion with her win at the Colorado State Fair. She is quiet and gentle and loves to investigate what her people are doing. She has roaned out in her coat pattern from when she was foaled and is now a beautiful true bay roan color. In November of 2013 a photo of Peggy and Zipper was on the cover of the Paint Horse Journal with a full article inside about Paynter’s Paint Ranch. Go Zipper!
For 2018 and 2019 she was bred to Gunner on Ice and has had two beautiful tobiano stud colts. One is Bay Roan, Color Me On Ice, and the younger one is a bay, Zips Icy Gunner. Color Me On Ice has been sold to Tasha Grissom and is in training.
Zips Icy Gunner is now in training at Laubscher Performance Horses to see what his talent tells us.
2021 Zipper foaled a beautiful red roan OVERO filly by This One Time. “Princess Zip” is quick and talented. She is hiding all of her white on the underneath of her body. Imagine our surprise when she rolled over to display all of her white spots. We expect her filly to become a Championship Reined Cow Horse.
In her first out at the Sagebrush Slide in Pueblo, CO, Zipper placed first in the 3 Year Old Open Reining Class and she brought home NRHA $$$ and a beautiful reining trophy plaque! Zipper continued her winning ways at the COLORADO STATE FAIR, taking the 3 yr old NRHA Open and Limited Open titles with Devin Warren. Her awards included $$$$, both Lawson and Morrison bronzes, as well as a Martin Open Futurity Saddle, presented as pictured here by Lindsay Wadhams of the CO State Fair Office!!! Way to go Zipper!!! Zipper finished 3rd in the 3 year old Reining Challenge at the 2011 APHA World Show with Devin Warren riding. This class also counted towards her NRHA $$$ earned and she now has over $4,000 in reining earnings!
Zippper continues her winning ways, taking First Place at the National Western Stock Show APHA Junior Reining class with Devin Warren riding. Peggy and Zipper are coming together as a team! They took 2nd in NRHA Prime Time Rookie Class at the Colorado State Fair…Congratulations to Doc and Wendell who took first in that same class! Way to finish, team Paynter’s Paint Ranch! In January 2013 Zipper finished as Reserve Champion in Limited Amateur Working Cow Horse and 4th in Amateur Reining. She is truly an outstanding mare that PPR is proud to own!
