Welcome to Paynter’s Paint Ranch

PPR is located south and west of Denver in Sedalia, Colorado, in the foothills of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Founded in 1988, it is owned and managed by Peggy Cummings, featuring American Paint horses carrying the lineage of COLOR ME SMART through their ranch stallions, DIABLOS PAINTED DOC and VALENTINES HICKORY.

Standing at stud is DIABLOS PAINTED  DOC, a 3 Time Equi-Stat Listed Top Jr. Reined Cow Horse Stallion.  The listing is compiled by how much money his get have earned in comparison to all other NRCHA Stallions.  We are super proud for Doc to be listed here, beating out Quarter Horses and all other paints for the years listed!!!!  Doc also holds 2 APHA World Championships and 2 APHA Reserve World Championships in Reining and Working Cow Horse.  In addition, he has APHA Superiors in both events.  He also has earned National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) and National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) monies, as well as numerous regional and club awards.

Doc sires beautiful and talented foals with great dispositions.  Listed below are several of his more famous get.

  • Docs Painted Colonel, a 2011 red roan Tobiano gelding, out of our producing Colonel Freckles broodmare, has won an APHA World Challenge Championship in Working Cow Horse, 2 APHA Reserve World Championships in Jr. Working Cow Horse, 1 APHA Limited Amateur Cow Horse Challenge Reserve Championship, over $16,000 in National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) and APHA Reining Challenge earnings.
  • Docspaintedfrostylady, a  black and white homozygous Tobiano mare, is out of Markanotherspot by Mark This Spot.  Frosty was sold shortly after becoming a money earner in NRCHA. 
  • Docspaintedsmartlena, a sorrel and white Tobiano, has also been sold and has winnings in the American Stock Horse Association.
